ET BRANCH (EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY)

 

This branch aims at a multi media approach in assisting the class is room teacher. I Interest could be evoked more purposefully by the use of interest audio and video cassettes on any subjects. ET equipments both hardware as well as soft ware – like radio / television, film strips / epidiascope; tape tape-recorder, audio / video video-cassettes on all subjects, computer computers ands CD’s are used in training programmes to motivate them to make use of available items in their classrooms. In In-service Training Programmes, the teachers are ex exposed to all the above ET equipments posed. These are essential skills to be learnt by every teacher and teacher educators and DIET takes care of this assignment. To cater to these needs the Educational Technology branch of DIET has been established.

Functions of ET

To develop simple, effective and low low-cost teaching aids for various subjects/area relevant photographs, slides, audio tapes, play play-scripts, songs etc. To maintain the following:

 

Functions:

1.   To develop in collaboration with concerned staff of the DIET and other resource persons, simple, effective and low-cost teaching aids for various subjects/areas relevant to elementary education and elementary teacher education –charts, diagrams, models, photographs, slides, audio tapes, play scripts, songs etc.

2.   To help the DRU in developing low cost teaching aids as above, for adult and non-formal Education.

3.   To maintain the following:

     i.    All A.V. equipments of the Institute

     ii.    Computer Lab

     iii.    A display area for good, low cost teaching aids developed in house as well as elsewhere and,

     iv.    A library of educational video/audio cassettes and, if the Institute has a film projector of films.

4.  To lend slides, cassettes and films to institutions having playing/projection facilities, and to borrow them from others Resource Centers.

5.  To lease with nearby Radio station for arranging educational broadcasts suitable for elementary school children, AE/NFE learners, teachers/instructors of the district.

6.  To conduct appropriate in-service programmes for teachers in the area of ET, with special emphasis on:

     i. Effective utilization of educational broadcasts, telecasts, cassettes and aids, and

Development of simple, low cost teaching aids.
